mango sunrises and yoga poses

this is just a smattering of what seems interesting, funny and important to a college kid who's pretty excited about life and learning everything about the world

Why I love Wash U. This is a great video parody of the Mac ads. Enjoy!

utah and some of the accompanying changes

My gospel doctrine lessons have been so-so, it’s a rough crowd. I’m trying to improve, we’ll see what happens i guess. But me and the other 2 roommates ate dinner together Sunday and that was fun. Plus ward choir started yesterday, people are ok, I think it will be a nice break.

I’m still sort of pensive about life though, I think I’m pretty sure I want to finish out the school year here though, whether thats taking classes here or online from the Mizzou gifted ed masters program though remains to be seen. I would love to go on a mission too, we’ll see. Its been a constant addendum to prayers, the what should i do with my life thing, but I’m not totally stressed or freaking out about it.

It was so exciting to get to hear pres. hinckley speak today— another reminder of how fun the utah mormon culture bubble has made life (along with a margarita party, w/ no worries abt. alcohol!).

Its amazing how life costs money, i went and spent like $40 on groceries (the free produce from Willow’s neighbor’s garden is great though. I love getting fresh veggies!)

Well, I have to do the reading for aunts susan’s class (awesome)…

Sarah McLachlan—World on Fire

This video always tugs at my heartstrings. The cost of the average music video changed 1,000,000 people’s lives.

  • O man! Have a great time skiing, I'm super jealous. I haven't gone since like middle school. We should hang out when you get back, hopefully relatively in one piece.

What am I doing when I graduate?

12:05am Saturday, Dec 23, 2006

I don’t know! I would tell you if I did.

As a senior, this question looms over aspect of my life. Yes, I finished student teaching. No, I don’t know if I want to teach. Yes, I’m writing a thesis. No, I don’t know if I want to go to graduate school. Yes, I’m Mormon. I don’t know if I’m going on a mission. Yes, I lived at home this year. At last, a question I can answer: I am moving out next year for sure. But past that, I only know I want to travel some, learn things, and help people. I am completely overwhelmed with the world and the possible ways I can do this. I’m sure you have a friend who had a great time digging wells in Madagascar. That’s nice, I’ll add it to my list of ideas.

Right now I’m just trying to figure out this growing up thing, and how to make decisions. I’m reminded of when, in about 1998 I was trying to decide whether or not to skip grades, logistics, etc, and it is just scary because these decisions are so important. These brief moments decide the everyday scenes of the next era of your life. I find myself confused and worrying, and ridiculously naive. I have the “what ifs?” syndrome, pondering what would have happened if I hadn’t skipped, or was pre-med, or went abroad before WashU. But as I constantly face the future, the new year, and the ever present “What are you doing next year?” I will be doing my best to remain happy for present circumstances, and getting guidance for the future.

After all, I’m a kid, and I still have a lot of partying to do :)

P.S. If anyone is actually still reading, I would love to hear your ideas, and secondly, the quiz I took below sums up some of my feelings, and you might enjoy the website and the other million quizzes yourself.

What Time Of Day Are You?

***You Are Sunset***

Even though you still may be young, you already feel like you’ve accomplished a lot in life. And you feel free to pave your own path now, and you’re not even sure where it will take you. Maybe you’ll pursue higher education in a subject you enjoy - or travel the world for a few years. Either way, you approach life with a relaxed, open attitude. And that will take you far!

Real Men of Genius (BYU chapter)

A&W Presents: Real Men of Genius

(Real Men of Genius!)

Today we salute you, Mr. Brigham Young University student.

(Mr. Brigham Young University student!)

Once upon a time, you sifted the mighty ranks of college football like so much chaff.

(Come back, LaVell!)

While lesser men get off on women’s short skirts and low-cut shirts, you are content with them merely outnumbering you two to one.

(Modest is hottest!)

And after two years away, you can look forward to hanging out with your former mission companion and his wife — your old girlfriend.

(I knew I shouldn’t have introduced you!)

So grab an ice cold A&W, Mr. Brigham Young University student.
There may not be much to do in Provo …

(Stone cold sober!)

… But it’s okay because The World Is Your Campus.

(Mr. Brigham Young University student)

*Any Real Person of Genius is welcome to join.
